Brick, NJ (September 30, 2026) – A 97-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision on Monday, September 28, at Drum Point Road and Johnson Road in Brick. According to Brick Township Police, the wreck took place at around 7:15 p.m.
A man was driving a 2024 Hyundai Elantra east on Drum Point Road when he crossed the center line, according to police. His car hit a 2026 Cadillac Escalade heading west.
The Escalade's driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police are still investigating what led to the wreck.
Our condolences go out to the deceased driver’s family and friends, and we wish the other driver a steady recovery.

Some of the most useful proof after a serious traffic injury in Brick disappears quickly. Security cameras at businesses typically record over their footage within days or weeks, and debris and tire marks fade with traffic and weather.
It is common that drivers first focus on treatment, which is understandable and the most important thing to do promptly. However, it is worth taking into account that early photographs and a list of nearby businesses with cameras can help a claim later.
The vehicle itself can also hold information. Many newer cars record speed, braking, and seatbelt data in an event data recorder, and that data can be overwritten or lost if the car is repaired, sold, or sent to a salvage yard before anyone reviews it.
A driver can ask in writing that the vehicle be held, and a car accident lawyer can send a formal preservation request to the people or companies that control it. New Jersey generally allows two years from the date of injury to file a lawsuit, so preserved proof has a limited window in which it can be put to use.
Treatment records are evidence too. A simple daily note of symptoms, missed work, and activities that became difficult gives doctors and insurers a clearer picture than memory alone, especially when pain develops days later.
