Taxi Cab Accidents in New Jersey

Paterson, NJ - One Dead After Taxi Cab Crashes on N. 3rd St

Taxis are a common sight on New Jersey roadways. Unlike a ride-sharing service, such as Lyft or Uber, taxi companies are responsible for the security and safety of their patrons because their drivers are not contracted workers.

Cab drivers are employees of the companies they work for. Under New Jersey law, this could make both the company and driver liable in the event of an accident. The liability will depend on the circumstances surrounding the accident and the nature of the relationship between the driver and the company.

As a passenger in a taxi, you are entrusting the driver with your life. If your driver gets into an accident, you are most likely entitled to full compensatory damages for any mental or physical injuries that you sustained. You can rest assured that the cab company has an abundance of coverage on their vehicles. This makes it easy to collect financial compensation for your medical expenses. Additionally, punitive damages could be awarded in civil court if your attorney can prove that the driver was deliberately aggressive or negligent in their driving.
