New Jersey Auto Accidents
Each year, thousands of people throughout the state of New Jersey are killed in negligently caused collisions. These crashes usually leave surviving family members to deal with difficult emotional and mental consequences. Facing the loss of a loved one due to the negligent actions of another individual can be a very painful experience. Oftentimes, family members must deal with overwhelming financial consequences related to the death of their loved ones. Some costs that are regularly associated with wrongful deaths include:
- Medical care
- Funeral costs
- Burial expenses
- Vehicle repair/replacement
- etc
Following the death of your loved one, you may not immediately think about legal action. It is difficult to see past the initial and extremely necessary grieving process. However, depending on the circumstances of your loved one’s crash, pursuing legal action could be a smart move. Working with a wrongful death lawyer may help ensure that your family is in an optimal position to get justice by holding responsible parties accountable for their actions and getting the financial compensation you need to pay for the aforementioned costs.
On top of the obvious costs related to the accident, you may also be able to receive compensation for non-economic damages that may have stemmed from the death of your family member. Some of these include:
- Pain
- Suffering
- Emotional turmoil
- Loss of enjoyment of life
- Loss of future earning capacity
- Loss of consortium
- Loss of childcare
- Embarrassment
- etc
Depending on the nature and severity of your loved one’s crash, there exists a long list of damages that may be able to be compensated for when you file a wrongful death claim. Though we know that no amount of money could ever make up for what happened, financial compensation can help allow you to focus on what truly matters; your mental and emotional well-being and that of your family members during this difficult time.
