New Jersey Truck Accidents

Pequannock, NJ - One Killed in Truck Collision on Rt 23 near Alexander AveInformation provided by the New Jersey State Police shows that, in 2020, there were over 8,000 large truck accidents in the Garden State. Of these collisions, about 4,000 people sustained injuries, and over 60 people lost their lives. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase in both total fatalities and collisions.

Truck collisions happen for numerous reasons, however, the majority are caused by the actions of negligent drivers. Additionally, equipment failure and inclement weather contribute to traffic accidents involving trucks. Specifically, driver error/negligence contributes to the majority of truck accidents in New Jersey. Driver distraction, speeding, and fatigue are the leading types of negligence that contribute to truck collisions in New Jersey and throughout the United States.

Commercial truck accidents are often much more severe than other types of traffic collisions due to the sheer size and weight of these massive vehicles. The results can be especially catastrophic when a large commercial truck and a smaller passenger vehicle collide, especially for the occupants of the smaller vehicle. It is important for truck drivers and other drivers to remain sober, awake, and alert while behind the wheel in order to avoid injurious and fatal accidents from occurring.
