Plattsburgh, NY – Sheila Ives Killed in Traffic Accident on SR-3 near Hammond Lane
Plattsburgh, NY (March 3, 2023) – Police in Plattsburgh say a woman from New York lost her life in a collision in Plattsburgh on Thursday. Reports show the wreck occurred just before 1:00 p.m. on March 2.
Sources report the incident happened on State Route 3 near Hammond Lane. Police in New York State say Gary Twiss, 66, of Plattsburgh, was headed east on Route 3 in a van when he ran a red light and crashed into a pick up truck driven by Craig Smith, 61, of Peru.
Sheila Ives, 72, of Morrisonville, was a passenger in Twiss’ vehicle at the time. She lost her life in the collision. Twiss and Smith were transported to the hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
Authorities in Plattsburgh continue to investigate the details of the accident.
