Queens, N.Y. (February 25, 2019) – A woman has died following a hit-and-run accident on Sunday afternoon. Police say the deadly New Jersey pedestrian accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Queens Boulevard and 63rd Drive in the Rego Park area.
The woman was hit by a taxi that fled the scene afterwards, according to police. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they began to administer CPR to the victim, 26-year-old Sherena Hundalani, who was conscious at the time. Hundalani was then transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
A 55-year-old who was suspected to be the hit-and-run driver was apprehended on 62nd Drive after the accident, though they were later released by police. No arrests have been made at the time of this article. The investigation is ongoing.
