New York Pedestrian Collisions
Pedestrian accidents happen in the state of New York often. Pedestrian safety has become a prevalent issue in the Empire State in the past decade, mostly due to the actions of distracted drivers. Driver distraction causes over 400,000 vehicle crashes per year in the United States, a percentage of which involve pedestrians who sustain severe injuries.
In one year’s time, hundreds of pedestrians lose their lives in New York. This does not include the several hundred pedestrians who suffer serious injuries because of driver negligence.
Pedestrians travel with no protection all of the time. This means that each time they go for a walk, jog, run, or bike ride, they risk becoming severely hurt, sustaining serious or even debilitating injuries if they become involved in a traffic accident with a car or another vehicle. While acts such as jaywalking can undoubtedly cause collisions, most pedestrian crashes are the result of driver negligence, especially drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way to pedestrians.
If you or someone you love were seriously injured in a pedestrian accident, you may be legally eligible to collect compensation by bringing legal action against the person or party who caused your crash. You should not have to cover the costs of your injuries and necessary treatment, vehicle repairs, and other related expenses, on your own. Especially when someone else caused your accident, you should be eligible for financial compensation to help you pay these expenses. This is why, here at Metro Law, our professional duty is to assist injured accident victims who have been hurt by the actions of negligent drivers get the money they need to financially recover.
