New York Fatal Scooter Accidents

Queens, NY - Scooter Rider Killed in Crash with School Bus at Jackson Ave & Queens BlvdThe electric scooter, or e-scooter, has become increasingly popular, especially in large cities where it offers a very simple and practical way to avoid traffic and go swiftly from one place to another. They are especially well-liked on college campuses, and some businesses even provide them to their staff on substantial sites. According to a recent report, there were 20 injuries for every 100,000 e-scooter rides between September 2018 and November 2018 in a large city involved in the study. About half of those injuries were severe, resulting in organ damage and bone fractures.

Untimely deaths brought on by the carelessness of another person or organization are referred to as “wrongful deaths” in this context. In many ways, a wrongful death case is similar to a personal injury lawsuit. However, the plaintiff in a wrongful death action is the estate of the deceased victim rather than the injured plaintiff themselves, who is seeking compensation. In essence, the victim’s estate may file a wrongful death claim if the victim had survived and had been able to file a personal injury claim for their injuries, loss of income, medical expenses, and other damages.
