Queens, NY – Toddler Dies After Being Hit by Family Friend in Bayside

Queens, NY (October 25, 2021) – A 2-year-old girl was killed when she was struck by a car that drove off after her mother finished unloading packages from the trunk on Sunday, October 24th in the Bayside neighborhood of Queens.

The mother and daughter had been passengers in the back of a 2021 Nissan Rogue. At about 10:00 p.m., the car was standing and the mother was unpacking the trunk when the toddler wandered out in front of the car.

The 23-year-old driver, a friend of the family, started to drive off and hit the girl.

She was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital with severe head trauma and pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made and the child’s identity has not been released.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Pedestrian Fatalities in Queens

Queens, NY - Toddler Dies After Being Hit by Family Friend in Bayside

Establishing if the driver involved in a pedestrian accident was at fault is based on several factors. The pedestrian may have been walking, jogging, or standing when they were struck, but this is not enough to prove that a driver acted negligently and, therefore, is responsible for the resulting injuries.

A pedestrian could have been outside or inside of a marked or unmarked crosswalk when the accident occurred, but, again, this alone will not establish if and to what degree the driver was negligent. Where pedestrian accidents are involved, the determination of negligence demands careful study, critique, and presentation of all factors that played a role in the incident.

An experienced New York pedestrian accident attorney will explain the facts to a jury, verifying that the driver of the car failed to exercise reasonable care. Learning all events surrounding the accident is crucial to both attorneys and insurance adjustors in proving the negligence of a driver and moving forward with your New York personal injury claim.

Pedestrian accident attorneys should have experience and legal proficiency if they hope to garner the maximum settlement or favorable verdict on behalf of their clients.
