Rhinebeck, NY – One Man Killed in Car Crash on Rt 9

Rhinebeck, NY (March 29, 2023) – A man identified as Jonathan A. Kiech, 49, of Fords, New Jersey, lost his life in a fatal accident in Rhinebeck on Tuesday, March 28. The accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m., sources said. 

According to reports concerning the crash, it occurred when a 14-year-old driver driving a stolen vehicle struck Kiech’s car as it traveled north on Route 9. The teen was in a Toyota 4Runner headed south at the time. 

Paramedics pronounced Kiech deceased at the crash scene. The juvenile was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was then taken to a detention facility and is awaiting charges.

Authorities in Rhinebeck continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
