Ridgewood, NJ (April 30, 2021) – One woman has lost her life as a result of a fire incident early Monday morning. Just after 1 a.m., on April 26, emergency crews were notified that a fire broke out at a residence located on North Pleasant Avenue.
According to reports, a fire broke out on the first-floor living room of a two-story residence. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began to battle the blaze.
One woman living in the home, identified as 66-year-old Sharon Maes, became overcome by smoke as she attempted to flee the home. Maes and her four cats lost their lives in this incident.
At this time, investigations surrounding the cause of the fire are underway with the village police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification.
