Roosevelt, NY (January 01, 2019) – One man was killed and another injured on Tuesday, December 31st in a two-vehicle collision between a car and a snowplow in Taylor County.
Police were dispatched to the scene of the accident in the 1300 block of 7th Avenue just after 1:15 p.m.
Each vehicle was occupied by only a driver, both of whom were taken to Aspirus Hospital in Medford.
James J. Penk, 65, a resident of Lublin, WI died a short while later as the result of his injuries.
Police reports indicate that Penk was driving a pickup truck outfitted with a snowplow when the accident occurred.
Penk was clearing snow from the roadway when he drove into the path of a vehicle heading southbound, causing the collision.
The driver of the other vehicle was unable to avoid colliding with the truck.
