New Jersey Traffic Collisions

Somerset County, NJ - Steven Christiano Killed, One Other Hurt on River RdHundreds of individuals lose their lives each year due to fatal traffic collisions in New Jersey. In the Garden State, over 600 people lose their lives per year due to fatal auto collisions. Across the nation, around 40,000 individuals are killed annually in these wrecks. Sadly, most of these accidents happen due to driver negligence. Negligent driving is a serious problem that has only gotten worse in the past decade.

Several different forms of negligent driving exist, including intoxication, distraction, speeding, and fatigue. Each year, over 11,000 people lose their lives due to the actions of drivers who travel above the posted speed limit. Crashes that happen due to speeding are often more dangerous and deadly because the force of an impact that happens at a higher speed is always going to be more devastating.

Additionally, over 3,000 people lose their lives per year due to driver distraction. Most often, drivers are distracted by their cell phones while behind the wheel. Because we operate motor vehicles so often, we find it non-problematic to look at our phones while doing so. This is never, ever safe and can end in severe injuries or death for those involved.
