South Brunswick, NJ – Stoneworker Crushed to Death in Workplace Accident on Chris Ct

South Brunswick, NJ (April 22, 2022) – A 37-year-old man from New Jersey died on Thursday, April 21st after a large slab of granite fell on him at a facility in South Brunswick.

At about 3:25 p.m., police responded to Empire Marble and Granite on Chris Court in South Brunswick after receiving reports of a worker trapped under a granite slab. Upon their arrival, officers learned that the worker’s associates had been able to remove most of the slab off of him. The injuries he sustained were extremely severe, however, and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical responders.

An investigation determined that a customer had selected a block of granite and the workers were in the process of moving it when it fell back onto the victim.

The victim, whom police would not identify, lived in Marlton with his wife and kids.

An investigation is being conducted by the United States Occupation Safety and Health Administration.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
