Sparta, NJ – Two Teenagers Injured in School Bus Accident on Rt 94

Sparta, NJ (March 21, 2022) – Two teenagers were injured during a collision with a Byram school bus on Friday, March 18th.

The accident took place at about 3:15 p.m. on Route 94 in Sparta when bus operator, 77-year-old James Dyer, a resident of Wharton, was making a lefthand out of the Sussex County Charter School campus and was hit by a northbound Toyota Matrix driven by 18-year-old Teagan Murdock, a resident of Hamburg, who had the right of way.

The bus was occupied by six students between 11 and 15-years-old. Two sustained non-critical injuries and were treated at the scene.

Murdock was trapped inside her vehicle. After she was freed, she was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center with an injury to her arm.

Her 15-year-old passenger sustained a shoulder injury and was taken by ambulance to Newton Memorial Hospital.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Bus Accidents in New Jersey

Sparta, NJ - Two Teenagers Injured in School Bus Accident on Rt 94

Millions of people nationwide ride buses to get to work, school, and other activities every day. For a lot of New Jersey residents, the bus is their primary or only mode of transportation. Considering the number of buses that cross our roadways, accidents are unavoidable.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that an estimated 500 victims die every year in bus accidents nationwide while several hundred more are injured every day.

Our New Jersey personal injury lawyers understand that bus accidents have not just immediate consequences, but long-term ones as well. Victims amass huge medical bills, endure pain and suffering, and may have to take time off of work to heal from their injuries. Severe or catastrophic injuries leave victims to confront both reduced earning capacity and reduced quality of life.

Passengers and pedestrians are rarely ever at fault for a bus accident and, therefore, almost certainly entitled to financial compensation for their damages.
