New Jersey Motorcycle Accidents
Each year, thousands of people are left with debilitating injuries in the aftermath of motorcycle accidents. Here in New Jersey, we witness numerous people injured in collisions as a result of other drivers’ actions. Although motorcyclists can wear helmets and other protective gear while being mindful of other drivers sharing the road, there is no guarantee that other motorists are going to be as respectful to them.
Stereotypes surrounding motorcyclists lead our nation to believe motorcycle riders are the cause of most accidents. This is far from true. In fact, an overwhelming majority of motorcycle collisions are a result of drivers who are following too closely, those who switch lanes without checking, and motorists who are reckless and negligent. Motorcyclists are far more vulnerable to being injured due to the fact that they are unprotected from severe injuries.
People in cars, trucks, and SUVs have steel cages that work as a barrier of protection in an accident. Motorcyclists are not afforded this luxury. As a result, injuries sustained by motorcyclists are often catastrophic. Not only are victims left with mental and physical suffering, but they are often hospitalized and forced to undergo surgery. The treatment motorcyclists are subjected to after collisions can cost upwards of $100,000. It does not seem fair that motorcyclists should pay tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars for the treatment they need as a result of another person’s actions. For this reason, New Jersey provides victims with various legal options to secure compensation from those at fault. Victims can contact a motorcycle accident attorney in Springfield to protect their legal rights and explore legal options available to them.
