Staten Island, N.Y. – Children Injured in Vehicle Accident on Hylan Boulevard

Staten Island, N.Y. (June 5, 2019) – Two children have been left with critical injuries after the vehicle they were in was sideswiped by another vehicle in the New Dorp area, according to police. The New York vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday, around 9:35 p.m., on Hylan Boulevard near Bryant Avenue.

Police say that the girls were traveling in a Honda Accord with a relative heading north on Hylan Boulevard when they were rammed by a Dodge Charger. The children, identified only as an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old, were taken to Staten Island University Hospital North in critical but stable condition. The driver of the Honda, a man believed to be the children’s father or uncle, was not injured in the accident.

The driver of the Dodge, identified only as a 22-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene of the accident. The woman may be facing charges of driving while on a suspended license.
