Burn Injuries in New Jersey

Summit, NJ - One Injured in Electrical Fire at Overlook Medical Center

A severe burn can take years to heal. In some cases, burn victims never wholly recover. They normally require hospitalization in special wards so they can endure multiple surgeries and various other treatments in an effort to make their skin appear as normal and be as functional as possible. It is not uncommon for victims to also need psychiatric treatment to address the trauma caused by the event and life with disfiguring scars.

Appropriate medical treatment for burn injuries is costly. If your burn injuries were the result of someone else’s malicious, careless, or reckless behavior, the law entitles you to seek compensation for your physical, emotional, and financial damages.

A serious burn is an emotionally and physically draining experience. Nearly everyone has burned themselves at least once in the course of ironing, cooking, or participating in some other household activity. Burns caused by house fires, however, often cover large sections of the body, are quite painful, and leave the victim vulnerable to skin loss and serious infections, paving the way for other serious medical conditions.

Once they are healed, burns can leave deformative scars that will need surgical intervention and could make even rudimentary actions painful and difficult.
