Three Hurt in Police-Involved Crash on NJ Tpk in Mansfield, NJ

Mansfield, NJ (August 25, 2026) – Three people were hospitalized early Saturday, August 22, including a police trooper, after a wreck along the New Jersey Turnpike, according to New Jersey State Police. The wreck happened around 12:45 a.m. near mile marker 50.6.

Based on early evidence, a Jeep had broken down along the highway, and an unmarked police vehicle was parked behind it with its emergency lights on, police said. A Honda heading south then struck the back of both vehicles.

The trooper and the Honda's driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A minor riding as a passenger in the Honda was seriously injured and also taken to the hospital.

The circumstances of the crash remain under review.
