Burn Injuries in New Jersey
A severe burn is a physically and emotionally damaging experience. Virtually everyone has burned themselves at one time or another while ironing, cooking, or participating in some other everyday activity, but burns resulting from house fires often cover large swaths of the body, are excruciatingly painful, and leave the victim vulnerable to serious infections and skin loss, potentially opening the door to other serious medical conditions.
Even after they are healed, burns often leave deformative scars that will need surgical intervention and could make even basic movements painful and difficult.
A serious burn could take years to heal. In some instances, burn victims never wholly recover. They normally require hospitalization in special wards so they can endure multiple surgeries and various other treatments in an attempt to make their skin as normal-looking and functional as possible. It is not uncommon for victims to also need psychiatric treatment to address the trauma caused by the event and living with disfiguring scars.
Proper medical care for burn injury victims is costly. If your burn injuries were caused by someone else’s malicious, careless, or reckless behavior, the law entitles you to seek compensation for your physical, emotional, and financial damages.
