Hit-and-Run Collisions in New Jersey
Following the hit-and-run, you need to notify your insurance carrier as quickly as possible. Inform them that you are the victim of a hit-and-run driver, you have contacted the police, and you will be seeking medical care.
New Jersey auto insurance claims are managed by a no-fault approach, meaning victims must first pursue financial compensation from their own car insurance policy, even if they are not liable for the incident.
This is also true in the case of a hit-and-run crash, whether or not the at-fault driver is identified.
Stick to the facts and only the facts. Never share your opinions or try to assess the seriousness of your injuries. Insurance providers will do anything in their power to devalue or deny your claim and giving false information, even unintentionally, will impair your odds of recovering full compensation.
Contact our New Jersey personal injury lawyers at (800) 469-6476 immediately after an accident to schedule a free case evaluation.
Depending on whether or not the offending driver is located, there are different insurance coverages that can provide financial compensation for your hit-and-run accident. An experienced New Jersey car accident lawyer can inform you of your options.
