Veteran, NY – Fatal Three-Vehicle Wreck involving Freightliner on Rt 13
Veteran, NY (October 27, 2023) – A fatal traffic accident was reported in the town of Veteran on the morning of Thursday, October 26. Emergency responders were sent to the wreck site at around 8:20 a.m. after receiving reports concerning the incident.
The wreck happened on Route 13 and took the life of one person, according to reports. Sources say three vehicles collided on Route 13, including a 2019 Chevy Silverado with a trailer attached. The Silverado was operated by a man from Pine Valley, age 25. He began to merge left as the right lane was coming to an end, when a 2016 Ford Fusion operated by an individual, age 41, from Ithaca, attempted to pass him.
The Ford then struck the rear end of the Chevy and trailer, causing the driver to go into the southbound travel lane. A 2018 Freightliner, operated by a 33-year-old Skaneateles resident, driving in the southbound traffic lane, then struck the Chevy. The Chevy’s driver was pronounced deceased on-site.
The driver of the Ford was taken to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania by helicopter while the operator of the Freightliner was evaluated by EMS at the scene.
Police in Veteran continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
We want to offer our sincere sympathies to the deceased victim’s family.
