New York Auto Accidents
New York sees hundreds of thousands of auto accidents per year. A percentage of these involve tractor-trailers. Traffic accidents that involve semi-trucks are usually more severe and catastrophic than accidents that involve only passenger vehicles. This is due to the massive weight and size of 18-wheelers compared to smaller vehicles. Semis are approximately 20 to 30 times heavier than passenger vehicles, posing a serious threat to anyone involved in a wreck with them.
A large number of these crashes result in injuries and death. In the United States, more than 3 million individuals suffer injuries in car accidents yearly. Every day, over 17,000 auto collisions happen throughout the country. Approximately 7,500 people are injured, and approximately 100 people are killed per day. Auto accidents end the lives of more than 40,000 people annually. This is approximately the same number of people who lose their lives due to gun violence every year.
