Fatal Truck Accidents in New Jersey
Fatal truck accidents take place every year in the state of New Jersey. These accidents take the lives of more than 75 people annually. In many cases, negligence contributes to the frequency of these accidents. There are many cases where truck crashes take place due to drivers who switch lanes.
Truck drivers who switch lanes without checking their mirrors or blind spots first are putting other motorists at serious risk of a collision. In fact, fatal truck accidents caused by drivers who switch lanes are all too common.
Some truckers think they can simply merge into traffic without any consequences. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Every time a truck driver switches lanes without checking first, they’re putting everyone around them in danger.
Not only do trucks have large blind spots, but they also take longer to stop than smaller vehicles. This means that if a truck driver doesn’t leave enough space between them and the car in front of them when they switch lanes, they could easily cause a rear-end collision.
Of course, not all accidents involving trucks are due to the driver’s negligence. Sometimes, another driver may cut off a truck, causing the trucker to swerve into oncoming traffic or off the road altogether. But even in these cases, it’s important for the truck driver to use caution and not put other people in danger by driving erratically.
