Whiting, NJ – Two Taken to Trauma Center After Motorcycle Crash Near Mount Misery RdNY/NJ Legal News
Whiting, NJ (May 31, 2022) – On Tuesday, May 31st, at about 5:35 p.m., officers from the Manchester Township Police Department responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on Pasadena Road in the area of Mount Misery Road in Whiting.
Upon their arrival, officers located a 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide Motorcycle lying overturned on the westbound side of the roadway. Both of the motorcycle’s occupants, the 55-year-old male driver, and his 53-year-old female passenger, both residents of Manchester, were injured.
An investigation determined that the driver was riding eastbound on Pasadena Road when a deer entered the roadway and reportedly struck the bike on its lefthand side.
The impact caused both occupants to be thrown from the Harley. The motorcycle continued down the roadway on its own before coming to an uncontrolled stop on the dirt shoulder of the roadway.
Both the driver and passenger were transported by paramedics to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for immediate treatment.
The crash is being investigated by members of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Section.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Economic Damages in New Jersey Motorcycle Settlements
Economic damages are awarded for objectively verifiable economic losses. The amount awarded is based on your monetary damages after an accident. This settlement award will include your lost earnings and anticipated lost earnings during the course of your convalescence The total costs of your medical bills, both current and anticipatory, will also be included in your economic damages.
Examples of medical expenses include:
- Hospital bills
- Doctor office co-pays
- Physical therapists or occupational therapists
- Transportation to and from mandatory medical appointments
As your medical bills and other losses continue to pile up, settlement negotiations become more difficult, and it becomes increasingly vital that you hire the services of a New Jersey motorcycle accident attorney who can competently act as your representative. A high-value claim combined with a reputable attorney is more likely to make an insurance adjuster take you seriously, which makes it easier to obtain full compensation.
If you were seriously hurt, your settlement offer should also include payment for any existing and expected medical needs.
Figuring out the total of a victim’s anticipated losses is complex and often relies heavily on expert testimony and opinion. Hiring a motorcycle crash attorney to deal with these things is always in your best interests, particularly in cases involving critical or permanent injuries.
Some common examples of anticipated economic damages include:
- Expected medical costs
- Expected nursing care costs
- Expected lost earnings/Reduced earning capacity
- The anticipated expense of paying for household duties you are no longer able to perform
One of the many reasons it is important that you never accept a first settlement offer, especially one that is insultingly low, is that you need to learn the full extent of your damages and that takes time.
