Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accidents in Queens, New York

Corona, NY – Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash at 102nd St & 37th Ave

Pedestrian hit-and-run crashes remain a serious problem across Queens and New York City. These incidents often occur during late-night or early-morning hours. Reduced visibility, speeding, and impaired driving frequently contribute to severe outcomes.

Pedestrians have little protection during a collision with a vehicle. As a result, injuries often include head trauma, internal bleeding, and broken bones. In many cases, victims require emergency surgery and extended hospital care. Fatal outcomes are also tragically common in high-speed impacts.

Hit-and-run crashes create added pain for victims and families. When a driver flees, injured pedestrians may face delays in identifying insurance coverage. Families also endure emotional distress while waiting for answers and accountability.

New York law allows injured pedestrians, or families of those killed, to pursue compensation. Claims may include medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and future care costs. In fatal cases, families may pursue wrongful death claims to address funeral costs and financial losses.

A wrongful death lawyer can assist by working with investigators and insurance companies. Legal teams may help locate additional evidence and identify responsible parties. This support can be critical when a driver leaves the scene.

Pedestrian safety remains a major concern in busy neighborhoods like Corona. Increased traffic, nightlife, and overnight travel increase risks for people on foot. Public awareness and enforcement play important roles, but legal guidance also matters after a crash.
