Injuries Reported in Car Accident at Newark Ave & U.S. Rtes 1 and 9

Collisions in high-traffic areas can result in a wide range of injuries, from minor bruises to severe trauma. The impact of a crash often depends on the speed, angle of collision, and type of vehicles involved. Below are some of the most common injuries sustained in car accidents, along with explanations of how they occur:

  • Whiplash: Sudden back-and-forth motion of the head during impact can strain neck muscles and cause chronic pain.
  • Head injuries: Even minor crashes can cause concussions or traumatic brain injuries when the head strikes a window, steering wheel, or airbag.
  • Chest injuries: The force of seat belts or airbags can lead to broken ribs or internal injuries, especially in high-impact collisions.
  • Leg and knee injuries: Drivers and passengers may suffer fractures or torn ligaments when their lower bodies strike the dashboard or doors.
  • Spinal cord injuries: The force of impact can compress or damage the spinal cord, sometimes resulting in partial or complete paralysis.
  • Cuts and bruises: Broken glass, metal fragments, and debris can cause deep lacerations, leaving lasting scars and risk of infection.
  • Psychological trauma: Victims often experience anxiety, fear, or post-traumatic stress following serious crashes, especially those involving major roadways.
