Pennsville Twp, NJ – Multi-Vehicle Crash on Delaware Memorial Bridge Leaves 6 Injured

Pennsville Township, NJ (December 29, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on the Delaware Memorial Bridge left six people injured on Friday, December 26, as icy weather conditions made travel dangerous across the region.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:42 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Officials with the Delaware River and Bay Authority said the collision involved three vehicles and unfolded as a chain reaction.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and found several occupants trapped inside their vehicles. Emergency responders worked to extricate four people who could not exit on their own. Paramedics transported six injured people to a nearby trauma center for medical treatment. Authorities did not release details about the severity of the injuries.

First responders coordinated efforts between New Jersey and Delaware agencies to manage the situation. Crews worked carefully to ensure all victims received medical care before reopening the roadway.

Authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision as part of an ongoing investigation.

We wish all those injured in this crash a full and smooth recovery.

Car Accidents in New JerseyMulti-Vehicle Crash on Delaware Memorial Bridge Leaves 6 Injured

Car accidents on major bridges often lead to serious injuries due to limited space and high traffic volume. Bridges see thousands of vehicles daily, which increases risk when weather conditions deteriorate. Icy surfaces can quickly turn routine travel into a dangerous situation.

Several common factors may contribute to multi-vehicle crashes on bridges during winter weather:

  • Icy or slick road surfaces reduce tire traction and make braking difficult.
  • Sudden stops in heavy traffic can trigger chain-reaction collisions.
  • Reduced visibility from sleet or freezing rain limits driver reaction time.
  • Following too closely leaves drivers unable to stop safely on slippery roads.
  • Speed not adjusted for conditions increases impact force during collisions.
  • Bridge exposure to wind and cold causes faster ice buildup than nearby roads.

When multiple vehicles collide, injuries often include head trauma, fractures, and spinal injuries. Victims may face hospital stays, rehabilitation, and time away from work. These challenges can place significant emotional and financial strain on families.

Those injured in car accidents may have legal options available. Compensation may help cover medical bills, lost wages, rehabilitation costs, and pain related to the injuries. In crashes involving hazardous road conditions, investigators may review driver behavior, vehicle condition, and response to weather warnings.

After a serious crash, many victims benefit from speaking with a car accident lawyer to better understand their rights. A lawyer can review crash details, gather evidence, and explain how fault may be determined.

Legal guidance can be especially helpful when weather conditions, multiple vehicles, and serious injuries complicate the situation. Having legal support allows injured individuals to focus on recovery while someone else handles the legal process.
