The driver had just turned onto North Cayuga Street from Lincoln but was not speeding.

Investigators have not yet released further details about the cause of the crash, and the section of North Cayuga Street reopened to traffic around 11:00 a.m. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing by the New York State Police

We wish the injured woman a full and speedy recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in New York

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle on North Cayuga St Near Lincoln St

Pedestrian accidents in New York are a growing concern, particularly in busy areas near schools and intersections like North Cayuga and Lincoln Streets.

With many families walking to and from school during the year, pedestrians, especially children, are at risk of being involved in a traffic collision. Even when drivers are being cautious, the lack of protection for pedestrians can lead to serious injuries.

Recent statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that pedestrian fatalities have been on the rise in urban areas, with an increase in crashes during peak traffic hours, especially during the school year.

In New York, it is critical for both drivers and pedestrians to be vigilant, especially when crossing busy streets or navigating unfamiliar areas.

In cases of pedestrian accidents, it’s important for victims to seek legal assistance to ensure they are fully compensated for their injuries.

Injuries from pedestrian accidents can range from broken bones to severe head trauma, and they often require extensive medical treatment and recovery. A personal injury claim can help cover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
