Pedestrian Accidents in New JerseyWoman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Crash at Rte 35 & Sunset Ave

Pedestrian fatalities are a growing concern across New Jersey, and busy intersections highlight the ongoing risks for those traveling on foot. Even when pedestrians follow traffic signals or crosswalks, several factors can increase the likelihood of deadly pedestrian accidents.

Some of the most common reasons these tragedies occur include:

  • Low visibility due to poor lighting or weather conditions.
  • Driver distraction, such as texting or using a mobile device.
  • Speeding which reduces reaction time and increases impact severity.
  • Failure to yield at crosswalks or intersections.
  • Impaired driving caused by alcohol or drugs.
  • Unsafe road design, including inadequate signage or poorly marked crossings.

In cases where a pedestrian loses their life because of another person’s negligence, the surviving family may have the right to file a wrongful death claim. This type of legal action allows families to seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of income, and the emotional pain of losing a loved one.

While no amount of money can replace a life, a wrongful death claim can help families find financial stability and a sense of accountability after such a devastating event.

It is essential to contact a skilled wrongful death lawyer as soon as possible after a fatal accident. An experienced attorney can investigate the crash, gather critical evidence, and ensure that all filing deadlines are met.
