Queens, NY (February 27, 2026) – Four people were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning, February 27, on the Long Island Expressway in Queens.
The New York Police responded just before 9 a.m. to the westbound lanes of the LIE near Van Dam Street. Authorities said nine vehicles were involved in the collision. A video from the scene showed that one vehicle was resting on top of two others after the impact.
Emergency units evaluated the injured at the scene and rushed all four victims to Elmhurst Hospital. Officials reported that one person suffered critical injuries. The current conditions of the other victims have not been released.
The accident caused heavy traffic delays along the westbound side of the expressway throughout the morning commute. Crews worked at the scene for several hours before clearing the roadway around 11:30 a.m., allowing all lanes to reopen.
Police have not shared details about what caused the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
