Pedestrian Accidents in New JerseyPedestrian Fatally Struck on Black Horse Pike Near Toulon Ave

Pedestrian accidents are among the most devastating traffic incidents, often resulting in severe or fatal injuries. In busy areas, where major routes see heavy traffic, the risk for pedestrians increases significantly—especially after dark or during high-traffic hours.

According to the New Jersey State Police, pedestrian fatalities account for nearly one-third of all traffic deaths in the state each year. Many of these accidents occur on busy highways or roads that lack sufficient lighting, sidewalks, or pedestrian crossings.

Victims of pedestrian crashes and their families often face significant emotional and financial hardship. Common outcomes of these tragic events include:

  • Medical expenses and long-term care costs
  • Funeral and burial expenses in fatal cases
  • Loss of income and financial stability for families
  • Lasting emotional distress and grief

When a pedestrian is killed due to a driver’s negligence, their surviving family members may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim. This legal action can help recover compensation for funeral costs, lost future earnings, and emotional suffering. An experienced wrongful death lawyer can guide families through this process and help ensure accountability for negligent actions.
