Scooter Accidents in New Jersey Injury Scooter Accident at Manhattan Ave & John F. Kennedy Blvd

Scooters have become common across New Jersey, especially near major roads. Riders often share space with cars, buses, and pedestrians. That mix can create danger in seconds, even when a rider follows the rules. Intersections also bring extra risk because everyone moves at once from different directions.

Accidents between scooters and cars may happen for many reasons, including:

  • Drivers fail to see a scooter in traffic because of its small size.
  • A driver turns too fast and cuts across a rider’s path.
  • Cars roll through stop signs or try to beat a light.
  • Distraction from phones, navigation screens, or passengers.
  • Parked cars block sight lines at corners.
  • Poor road conditions or uneven pavement throw a rider off balance.

Even at moderate speeds, a scooter rider has almost no protection. A crash can lead to fractures, deep bruises, and lasting joint or nerve damage. Recovery may require weeks off work, physical therapy, or follow up visits. Costs grow quickly, and insurance companies may try to minimize what the rider went through.

If a driver caused the crash, a personal injury lawyer can help the injured rider understand their rights. Legal support can include reviewing the police report, collecting video, and speaking with witnesses. A claim may seek payment for medical bills, lost income, future treatment, and pain caused by the injury.
