Berkeley Township, NJ (January 2, 2026) – Seven young individuals suffered burn injuries following a flash fire at a residential property on Tuesday, December 31, during a New Year’s Eve gathering in Ocean County.
Authorities responded to the incident at approximately 10:00 p.m. at a home located on North Trenton Avenue. Berkeley Township officials received reports of a fire involving multiple injured victims. When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered that an outdoor fire pit had sparked a sudden flash fire.
According to investigators, the flash fire caused burns to seven juveniles who were near the fire pit at the time. First responders assessed the injured at the scene and coordinated medical care based on the severity of the injuries.
Two of the injured juveniles were transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River. Medical staff treated both victims for burn-related injuries and later released them. A third juvenile arrived at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township with her parents. Doctors treated her burns, and she was also released.
The remaining four juveniles did not receive hospital treatment. Officials stated that they were released into the care of their parents and declined further medical attention at the scene.
