Car Accidents in Jersey City

Car accidents are an unfortunate reality in Jersey City, especially in busy areas like Broadway, where traffic congestion and pedestrian activity are common. Even seemingly routine trips can turn dangerous when drivers become careless or distracted.

In this case, the possibility of a concussion highlights how quickly serious injuries can occur, even in accidents that may not appear severe at first glance.

Some of the most common causes of car accidents in Jersey City include distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield.

Distracted driving, often caused by texting or using in-car technology, takes a driver’s eyes off the road and hands off the wheel. Speeding not only reduces reaction time but also makes injuries worse when crashes occur. Failing to yield at intersections or crosswalks is another leading cause of collisions that endanger both motorists and pedestrians. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as poor road conditions, also contribute to the risk of serious accidents.

When injuries like concussions occur, victims often face more than just physical recovery. A concussion can lead to headaches, memory issues, and difficulty concentrating, all of which affect a person’s ability to work or go about daily life. Medical bills, time away from employment, and emotional stress can create significant hardships for both victims and their families.

Victims of car accidents may be entitled to compensation to help ease these burdens. Common forms of compensation include:

  • Medical expenses – Emergency room visits, diagnostic testing, hospital stays, and ongoing treatment.
  • Lost income – Wages lost during recovery, as well as potential loss of future earnings in serious cases.
  • Rehabilitation costs – Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and long-term care as needed.
  • Pain and suffering – Compensation for physical pain, emotional distress, and reduced quality of life after an accident.
