
Bronx, NY (July 14, 2025) – One person lost their life, and six others suffered injuries after a three-car collision in the Bronx on Friday evening, July 11.
Police say the crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. near 2063 Bartow Avenue, close to The Mall at Bay Plaza in Co-op City. A silver Toyota Avalon, driven by a 79-year-old man, was heading west on Bartow Ave when it collided with a black Hyundai Sonata and a white Acura RDX before hitting a light pole. The Hyundai then struck an unoccupied vehicle.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to Jacobi Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His 71-year-old female passenger suffered a serious head injury and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Hyundai Sonata was driven by a 38-year-old woman, who had an 11-year-old boy in the car. Both were hospitalized but are expected to recover.
The Acura RDX was driven by a 34-year-old woman. Her passengers, a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old man, were also taken to Jacobi Hospital. All three are expected to be okay.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as loud and terrifying. One woman said the noise of the impact made her jump. Police have not made any arrests. The investigation into what caused this tragic crash remains active.
