Fair Lawn, NJ (January 22, 2025) – An injury pedestrian crash occurred on Wednesday morning when a 71-year-old crossing guard was hit by a car while assisting children at an intersection in Bergen County. The incident was reported by Fair Lawn police and occurred at approximately 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of Hopper Ave and Arnold St.

According to authorities, the crossing guard was hit by a car driven by a 22-year-old individual who was making a left turn from Arnold St onto Hopper Ave. Emergency personnel arrived quickly on the scene and found the crossing guard with significant leg injuries.

The injured man was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, where he is expected to survive. Fortunately, the driver remained at the scene following the accident and has not been charged, as the investigation is ongoing.
