Fayette, NY – Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle on Marshall Rd Near Knight Rd

Fayette, NY (October 17, 2025) – A Seneca Falls man sustained serious injuries early Wednesday morning, October 15, after being hit by a vehicle on a dark stretch of road in the Town of Fayette.

According to Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson, deputies responded to the area of Marshall Road and Knight Road around 6:18 a.m. for a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash. When first responders arrived, they located 24-year-old Richard Thomas of Seneca Falls receiving medical aid from volunteer firefighters inside the striking vehicle.

Authorities said 39-year-old Jessica Johnson, also of Seneca Falls, was driving westbound on Marshall Road in a 2018 Toyota RAV4 when she struck Thomas, who had been walking in the same direction. Thomas was reportedly wearing dark clothing in an unlit area when the collision occurred.

Emergency personnel first transported Thomas to Geneva General Hospital before he was airlifted by LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Officials later confirmed that Thomas remains in stable condition. Johnson was not injured in the incident.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash with help from the New York State Police and the Fayette Fire Department.

We extend our best wishes to Richard Thomas and hope for his full recovery.

Pedestrian accidents often leave victims facing extensive medical care, emotional trauma, and financial hardship. Recovering from such an event can take months or even years, especially when injuries are severe. Victims may be entitled to compensation through a personal injury claim that can help them pursue justice and recover damages for their losses.

In New York, accident victims may be eligible for several types of compensation, including:

  • Medical expenses: Covers hospital stays, surgeries, prescriptions, rehabilitation, and future medical needs.
  • Lost wages: Reimburses income lost during recovery and any reduction in future earning capacity.
  • Pain and suffering: Accounts for the physical pain and emotional distress caused by the accident.
  • Property damage: Compensates for any damaged belongings, such as phones, clothing, or personal items.
  • Loss of enjoyment of life: Recognizes the lasting impact on the victim’s ability to engage in daily activities.
  • Punitive damages: In cases of reckless or grossly negligent driving, courts may award additional compensation to deter similar behavior.

A skilled personal injury attorney can evaluate the evidence, handle negotiations with insurance companies, and ensure that victims receive fair and full compensation. Many people underestimate their claim’s value, but an experienced lawyer can identify damages that might otherwise be overlooked.
