Manahawkin, NJ – 1 Severely Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash at McKinley Ave & General Grier Blvd

Manahawkin, NJ (December 4, 2025) – A serious two-vehicle crash injured a Little Egg Harbor man on Wednesday morning, December 3, in Manahawkin. The Stafford Township Police said the collision happened shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of McKinley Avenue and General Grier Boulevard.

A 32-year-old woman from Manahawkin drove a 2010 Dodge Journey east on McKinley Avenue. Police reports said she tried to turn left at the intersection. As she turned, she moved directly into the path of a westbound 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The vehicles collided in the intersection with force.

The impact caused the Jeep Wrangler to roll over. The Jeep sustained heavy damage after it overturned. The driver, a 67-year-old man from Little Egg Harbor, suffered severe injuries. Emergency crews rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police did not release details about his condition, but they described the injuries as serious.

The investigation took several hours, and the roadway remained under police control during that time. Authorities continue to review the events that caused this crash.

We hope that the injured man makes a full recovery.

Car Accidents in New Jersey1 Severely Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash at McKinley Ave & General Grier Blvd

Crashes at busy intersections often lead to serious injuries. Drivers must judge speed, distance, and right of way in a very short moment. When one driver misjudges a turn, another vehicle has no time to avoid impact.

In New Jersey towns, morning traffic can add another layer of risk. Many commuters head to work, school, or stores around the same time. That mix of local drivers and through traffic increases pressure at busy crossings.

Left-turn collisions are especially dangerous. The turning driver must cross lanes where other vehicles have the right of way. If the driver turns too soon, the crash often hits the side or front of the oncoming car.

At higher speeds, a side impact can cause rollover. Older adults also face a higher risk of severe harm because the body recovers more slowly from blunt trauma.

Common causes of intersection and left-turn crashes include:

  • Drivers failing to yield while turning left. This mistake places a turning vehicle directly in front of oncoming traffic with little warning.
  • Distracted driving during morning commutes. A glance at a phone or dashboard can cause a driver to miss a car closing in.
  • Misjudging the speed of an approaching vehicle. Even a small timing error can turn a safe gap into a violent collision.

When a crash causes serious injuries, victims may need months of treatment. They may face surgeries, physical therapy, and time away from work. Medical bills can pile up fast, and families may struggle to cover daily costs.

In many cases, car accident claims allow injured people to seek compensation for hospital care, lost wages, rehabilitation, and pain. A car accident lawyer can also collect crash reports, interview witnesses, and work with experts to explain how the collision happened. That support helps level the field when insurance companies push back or offer less than a fair amount.
