Manchester Township, NJ (October 6, 2025) – Two people were hospitalized after a motorcycle and SUV collided in Manchester Township on Saturday, October 4.
The accident happened at about 5:37 p.m. at the intersection of Route 571 and Ridgeway Boulevard. According to Captain Albert Vega of the Manchester Township Police Department, 59-year-old Erik Palmblad of Toms River was riding a 2016 Indian Chief motorcycle west on Route 571 when the collision occurred.
At the same time, 70-year-old Lizzie Richardson of Manchester drove a 2013 Honda CRV south on Ridgeway Boulevard and entered the intersection. Authorities said she drove into the path of Palmblad’s motorcycle, which struck the driver’s side door of the SUV. The impact threw Palmblad from his motorcycle, while Richardson was trapped inside her vehicle. Emergency crews extricated her from the SUV.
Both Palmblad and Richardson were transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities closed the roadway for several hours to investigate and clear the wreck. Accurate Towing removed the vehicles involved. Preliminary findings suggest that failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to yield the right of way contributed to the crash.
Patrolman Jesse Hoydis of the Traffic Safety Unit is continuing the investigation to review the circumstances surrounding the collision..
We wish both injured parties a full and speedy recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in New Jersey
Motorcycle accidents across New Jersey remain a serious safety concern. Riders face higher risks than drivers of enclosed vehicles because they lack the same level of protection. Even minor collisions can lead to severe injuries, long hospital stays, and financial challenges.
In many cases, motorcycle accidents result from driver inattention, unsafe turns, or failure to yield at intersections. These factors highlight the importance of vigilance when sharing the road with motorcyclists.
Victims of motorcycle crashes often suffer injuries that require extensive medical care, including:
- Broken bones and fractures
- Road rash and severe lacerations
- Spinal cord damage or paralysis
- Traumatic brain injuries
Recovering from these injuries can take months or even years, leaving victims unable to work or live normally. This is why injured motorcyclists or passengers may need legal guidance to secure fair compensation. An experienced motorcycle accident lawyer can help victims recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, rehabilitation, and emotional suffering.
When another driver’s negligence causes a motorcycle crash, the law allows victims to pursue justice. Building a strong claim often requires gathering witness statements, police reports, and medical documentation. Skilled attorneys know how to handle these cases and fight for the maximum recovery possible.
