Pedestrian Accidents in New JerseyPedestrian Killed on W Hanover Ave near Stiles Ave

Pedestrian crashes remain a serious safety concern across New Jersey, especially on roads that mix high traffic with homes, shops, and side streets. West Hanover Avenue is a well traveled route, and intersections near it often see both vehicles and people on foot. When a person gets hit by a car, the human body has little protection. Even a short impact can lead to life changing injuries or death.

Several conditions can raise the risk of a pedestrian crash without placing blame on the victim. These include roadway design, visibility challenges, and the way traffic moves through a community. Examples of common contributing factors are:

  • Limited lighting or poor visibility during evening hours
  • Traffic speed that does not match the area’s pedestrian activity
  • Busy crossings where drivers and pedestrians must react quickly
  • Curves, parked cars, or buildings that reduce sightlines
  • High traffic volume near side streets and driveways

After a fatal pedestrian collision, families often face emotional shock along with major financial pressure. Funeral expenses, lost household income, and the sudden absence of support can change daily life overnight.

In a wrongful death case, the family may have the right to seek compensation for these losses. That can include medical costs tied to the victim’s final care, burial and funeral bills, and the long term economic impact of losing a loved one. Some families may also pursue damages tied to the loss of guidance and companionship.

A wrongful death lawyer can help by collecting evidence early, speaking with witnesses, reviewing traffic camera footage if it exists, and working with reconstruction professionals. This support matters because key details can disappear fast after a crash. A strong legal claim can also help families avoid unfair pressure from insurers during a painful time.
