Pedestrian Accidents in Morris County

In New Jersey, hundreds of pedestrians are injured or killed in crashes each year. Many of these incidents occur at night or in areas with poor lighting. Understanding the common causes of these accidents may help prevent future tragedies. Here are some major contributing factors:
- Limited Visibility: Nighttime or low-light conditions can make it difficult for drivers to see pedestrians.
- Driver Distraction: Texting or using in-car devices can lead to delayed reactions.
- Speeding: Higher speeds reduce a driver’s ability to stop in time for someone crossing the road.
- Unmarked Crosswalks: Pedestrians are more at risk when roadways lack clear crossing points.
- Lack of Sidewalks: In areas where footpaths are unavailable, pedestrians may be forced to walk near traffic.
Pedestrians hit by vehicles often face long recovery periods, medical bills, and emotional trauma. If negligence played a role, victims or their families may have the right to pursue legal action. A personal injury attorney can help determine liability, deal with insurance companies, and work toward compensation for pain and suffering, lost income, and hospital costs.
