Paterson, NJ (June 5, 2025) – In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 4, tragedy unfolded along Interstate 80 in Passaic County when a fatal hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a pedestrian. The crash took place near milepost 59.5, close to Exit 60 for Hawthorne and Clifton, around 2:55 a.m.

According to the New Jersey State Police, an unidentified large commercial vehicle, possibly a tractor-trailer, was traveling eastbound when it struck a pedestrian. The driver failed to stop after the impact, leaving the victim fatally injured on the roadway. Authorities quickly responded to the scene, but the pedestrian was sadly pronounced deceased shortly after.
