Salem County, NJ (June 7, 2023) – A man from Salem County lost his life on Tuesday afternoon when his vehicle was hit by another car when he was exiting a driveway, the New Jersey State Police said. 

The man was identified as Barry Sofsky, 71, of Pittsgrove. He was exiting a driveway on Garden Road near Crow Pond Road just after 3:00 p.m., authorities said, when his vehicle was struck by an SUV headed east on Garden Road. 

He was killed when the driver, identified as a Millville resident, age 39, suffered minor injuries. Authorities closed the roadway for approximately five hours in order to investigate the circumstances of the collision. 

The crash remains under police investigation at this time.
