Springfield, NJ – Injuries Reported in Tractor-Trailer Collision with Box Truck on New Jersey Tpk

Springfield, NJ (October 2, 2025) – A tractor-trailer overturned after colliding with a box truck early Wednesday morning, October 1, on the New Jersey Turnpike in Springfield Township. The crash occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the turnpike, causing significant disruptions to traffic.

The New Jersey State Police reported that the commercial tractor-trailer and an Isuzu box truck collided, which caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife and overturn. The driver of the box truck sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, those injuries were not life-threatening.

As a result of the crash, the northbound lanes of the Jersey Turnpike were shut down for several hours. At the time of this report, one northbound lane has been reopened, although delays are expected to continue.

The cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities are investigating the factors that contributed to the collision.
