New Jersey Auto Collisions

Upper Freehold, NJ - Rt 359 Scene of Fatal Pedestrian Accident near milepost 37.72In New Jersey, pedestrian crashes happen at an alarming rate when compared with other states. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority found that over 175 pedestrians lost their lives in one recent year. This fails to include the several hundred pedestrians who survived their accidents but sustained serious injuries after being struck by negligent drivers.

If you or someone in your family has sustained severe injuries or lost their life in a pedestrian collision in New Jersey, you are entitled by law to bring legal action against the person, people, or entity who caused your injuries. While pedestrians are sometimes at fault in their crashes due to jaywalking, distraction, intoxication, or some other form of negligence, more often than not, drivers cause injurious and fatal pedestrian crashes. Over half the time, it is the driver who fails to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.

Pedestrian safety has become such a problem throughout New Jersey that the NJTPA created a program called Street Smart. This program is designed to inform individuals about pedestrian safety and awareness in an effort to curb these types of accidents.

While traveling, pedestrians are totally unprotected against the force of larger, faster-moving vehicles. This means that each time they travel, they are at risk for severe, catastrophic, or even fatal injuries.
