SUVs Collide on Rte 50 in Ballston, NY, Trapping Driver

Ballston, NY (August 12, 2026) – One person suffered potentially serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Monday morning, August 10, on Route 50 at Kasey Pass in Ballston.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision at approximately 7:43 a.m. A 2014 Honda CR-V traveling south on Route 50 attempted to turn left onto Kasey Pass when it collided with a northbound 2004 Ford Explorer, according to the preliminary investigation.

The Ford Explorer struck a ground wire, overturned several times, and came to rest in a ditch. The driver was trapped inside and required extrication before being taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of potentially serious injuries. No other occupants were inside the Ford.

The Honda CR-V struck a fire hydrant, and its driver was transported to Saratoga Hospital for apparently minor injuries. 

The Sheriff's Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
