New Jersey Car Crashes
In the United States, about 41% of all vehicle accidents happen at junctions, making them the most dangerous places on the roads. Intersections are dangerous due to vehicles coming from different directions, and drivers often engage in negligent behaviors like distraction, intoxication, speeding, or traveling while fatigued.
Driver negligence has become the main reason for most auto accidents in the United States. In fact, the NHTSA reports that more than 94% of reported auto accidents are caused by the actions of negligent drivers. When we consider that there are over 6 million car accidents that happen per year, we can start to see the magnitude of the problem. Being hurt in an accident caused by a negligent driver can cost you a lot of time, energy, and money. You may be stuck recovering in the hospital while you’re unable to work or see your loved ones. This can be extremely overwhelming and stressful. Consider working with an attorney who can help you recover if any of this sounds familiar.
Between 2008 and 2012, the counties of Ocean, Middlesex, and Essex had the greatest number of deaths in the state that were caused by intersection-related accidents. They are the third most common kind of automotive accident in the state of New Jersey and may be brought on by a variety of factors, the most common of which are the following:
- An accident occurs when a driver refuses to give the right of way to other vehicles, pedestrians, or cyclists.
- Violation of laws pertaining to traffic signs and signals
- Speeding and rolling stops
Even if a busy intersection has stop signs, yield signs, and traffic lights, there is still a chance that an accident may take place there. Even if there are signs and lights at the intersection, there will always be those driving recklessly. This is especially important to keep in mind for motorists who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
