Brick, NJ (November 10, 2025) – A teenager was seriously injured on Saturday, November 8, after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Brick Township.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash occurred just before 11 p.m. near the intersection of Midstreams Road and Midstreams Place. Investigators determined that a Nissan Rogue traveling north on Midstreams Place struck a 15-year-old boy riding an electric bicycle as the driver turned left onto Midstreams Road. Instead of stopping, the driver continued west, leaving the injured teen behind.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical aid to the teen before transporting him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Authorities confirmed that the teen remains in stable condition as of Sunday.
Investigators later identified the suspected driver of the Nissan as 43-year-old William Donohoe. Officers reported signs of intoxication, and Donohoe failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to Ocean University Medical Center for a court-authorized blood draw. Results of the test are still pending. Donohoe is currently being held in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
The investigation into this hit-and-run collision remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured teen, and we hope for a full and speedy recovery.
Drunk Driving Accidents in New Jersey
Drunk driving accidents are among the most preventable yet devastating types of crashes. Across New Jersey, impaired driving continues to cause severe injuries and fatalities every year. When a driver chooses to operate a vehicle while intoxicated, they endanger not only themselves but everyone on the road — especially vulnerable individuals such as pedestrians and cyclists.
Victims of drunk driving accidents often face long hospital stays, physical therapy, and emotional trauma. Fortunately, New Jersey law allows injured victims and their families to pursue compensation for their damages. Common types of compensation available in these cases include:
- Medical expenses, including hospital bills, rehabilitation, and long-term care
- Lost wages or future loss of income due to the inability to work
- Pain and suffering, including emotional distress and reduced quality of life
- Property damage for destroyed or damaged bicycles, vehicles, or other personal property.
- Punitive damages in cases involving reckless or egregious behavior, such as driving under the influence
Filing a personal injury claim can help victims and their families recover financially and hold negligent drivers accountable. However, these cases can be complex, especially when criminal charges like DUI or hit-and-run are involved. Working with an experienced drunk driving accident lawyer can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you receive fair compensation for your injuries and losses.
