South Brunswick, NJ – Two-Car Crash Turns Fatal on Rt 1 near Independence Way

South Brunswick, NJ (November 22, 2023) – A woman lost her life in a two-car crash that happened in South Brunswick. Authorities report the collision occurred on Monday evening, November 20. Several responders went to the scene after the crash happened at around 6:00 p.m. on Route 1 near Independence Way. A 58-year-old woman was headed north on the highway when she left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The force of the crash sent her back onto the highway where she was struck by a minivan. Emergency crews were called to the scene where they rendered aid to the injured victim and transported her to a local hospital where she later died. 

Her name has not been reported at this time. Police are working to determine how the collision occurred. The man who struck the woman, identified as a 71-year-old, stopped and talked to police at the scene.
